There’s a new kind of printing, the mini kind, that will be growing in popularity thanks to the good folks at BERG. This ‘internet-of-things’ powered device called Little Printer is the first of a family of products to be released that are part of BERG Cloud, “a nervous system for connected products”. Little Printer - the size of a block of Post-It notes - bridges the digital and physical world and creates something concrete from otherwise nebulous computing activity; a quirky and diverging approach to translating digital media to Real Life. “Little Printer lives in your home, bringing you news, puzzles and gossip from friends. Use your smartphone to set up subscriptions and Little Printer will gather them together to create a timely, beautiful mini-newspaper.” Whether it's your personal agenda, Nike training schedule, Guardian news or to-do list, “Little Printer lives in your front room and scours the Web on your behalf, assembling the content you care about into designed deliveries a couple of times a day. You configure Little Printer from your phone, and there's some great content to choose from—it's what Little Printer delivers that makes it really special.” says BERG’s CEO Matt Webb. Go Free Range’s open-source DIY version, or the Arduino-based printer kit by Adafruit Industries achieve a similar mission. Visually bombarded with ephemera, it’s nice to have something to hold on to, even if just for a day. If that sounds too sentimental, build a mini paper-shredder.
